A look at your child's medicines

Abd 200mg Syrup is effective against a range of parasitic worm infections in children. It controls the worms by absorbing essential nutrients from the body, thereby depriving them of energy and causing them to die. The dead worms are then passed out of your child's body through the stools.

Give this medicine to your child by mouth, preferably with a fat-rich food such as milk. This will help your child's body absorb this medicine better. In case your child vomits within 30 minutes of taking Abd 200mg Syrup, give the same dose again. The duration of treatment depends on the type of worm your child is infected with. Usually, it is given as a single dose. Your child's doctor may recommend repeating this dose after two weeks to prevent reinfection. However, for certain types of infections, you may need to give this medicine to your child for a few days to a few weeks. In such a case, you must give this medicine to your child for the prescribed number of days, as stopping this medicine too soon may result in recurrence of the infection.

Nausea, vomiting, dizziness, headache, stomach pain, loss of appetite, hair loss, mild fever, and sore throat are some common but temporary side effects of this medicine. Rarely, it may cause bleeding which is a serious side effect of this medicine. Inform your child's doctor if the side effects persist or become bothersome or if your child experiences bleeding.

Before taking this medicine, tell the doctor if your child has had previous episodes of medicine allergy, seizures, liver impairment, kidney damage, stomach problems, or blood disorders. This information is important for making dose changes and planning your child's overall treatment.
